Colour doesn't have to be loud. For us it's closer to a mood: a soft grey, a deep green, a warm tortoise. Acetate carries colour in depth, so it changes with the light and picks up your skin tone. It's hard to judge on a screen, so try one on. The stores closest to you are below.
Ørgreen is an independent eyewear brand from Copenhagen, Denmark. We draw every frame in the Ørgreen Studio in Copenhagen and make them in three ways: Sheet Titanium, Acetate and Quantum High. Our titanium and acetate frames are made by hand in Japan.
Look at proportion before detail. A frame that sits well on your face, with the top line close to your brows and the width close to your face, stays right far longer than a shape that’s only about the moment. Then look at how it’s made; a well-built frame keeps its form for years. That’s how we design at Ørgreen.
Not decoration. Each colour is chosen to support the frame's design rather than compete with it. Some are quiet, some are deep, a few are bold, but all of them are meant to look like part of you rather than something you're wearing.
Yes, when the colour has depth rather than volume. A layered or translucent tone picks up your skin and changes with the light, so it reads as part of your face. Try one next to your usual frame; most people are surprised.
Look at your skin's undertone rather than your clothes. Warmer skin often suits honey, olive and tortoise tones; cooler skin often suits grey, blue and clear tones. But try at least one colour you would never pick yourself. It's often the one.
Acetate is made from cellulose, which comes from wood pulp or cotton. Many cheaper plastic frames are injection-moulded. Acetate frames are cut and polished from blocks or sheets, so the colour runs all the way through and an optician can adjust the frame with gentle heat. It feels warmer, looks richer and lasts longer.
Rinse them in lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap, dry them with a soft cloth, and don't leave them in a hot car, because heat can soften acetate. If they start to sit differently, your optician can reshape them in a few minutes.
Ørgreen Acetate is our collection of frames in colour and sculpted shapes. Acetate holds colour in depth, not just on the surface, so the combinations we design only show fully once the frame is on your face.
No. Ørgreen is only sold through selected opticians, and that’s a choice. A frame has to be fitted, adjusted and paired with the right lenses, and an optician does that better than any website. The stores closest to you are listed on this page.
